Today at 7 p.m., Congressman Mike Ross will hold a “town hall” conference call to talk to his constituents about his position on the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES). This landmark climate change legislation requires that the United States reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 17% by 2020. ACES also requires electricity providers to produce 20% of their electricity from renewable sources by 2020.
Environmentalists argue that the bill would help curtail global warming and achieve a clean-energy economy that will reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil. Mike Ross voted against the bill in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and there is a strong rumor that he will be one of the few Democrats voting against the legislation when the full House weighs in on the bill later this month.
If you live in Ross’ district, tell him that we want clean energy and green jobs! Call (877)229-8493, PIN: 14573. The call is open to the public, and Ross will take questions.
