WHERE: University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service Headquarter (2301 S. University Ave.) in Little Rock
Market Farming is also often referred to as fresh market farming or specialty crop farming. Either way, it is based on fresh, whole and value-added food products that are grown and sold at fresh markets by the farmer. Typically, the traditional fresh market is an outdoor farmers market where farmers set up tents and tables and sell direct to the end consumer at retail prices. Newer markets are developing that go beyond the traditional tent and table markets, to innovative online farmers markets, farm-to-chef networks, farm-to-school networks, and community supported agriculture programs; that offer producers a wide range of marketing tools to help ensure the success of small farm enterprises.
Who should attend?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above, you would be a good candidate to attend the workshop. Although the workshop is open to anyone who wants to attend, it is aimed at those who have been investigating a future in the field of sustainable agriculture.
Tentative Workshop Schedule:

- 9:30–10:45 a.m. Introduction to Holistic Small Farm Business Planning
- 10: 45-11 a.m. – BREAK
- 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Break-out sessions
- 12:30–1:30 p.m. LUNCH
- 1:30–2:30 p.m. Conclusion
