Pulaski County, in partnership with Central Arkansas Water, has retained a team led by nationally recognized planning and design firm Wallace Roberts & Todd to assist in a year- long effort to develop a land use plan and associated regulations for that portion of the county that is located within the Lake Maumelle Watershed. This plan will implement the recommendations of recent Lake Maumelle Watershed Management Plan, to ensure that development within the watershed is compatible with the protection of the region’s principal water source.
To kick-off the planning process, a “meet-and-greet” open house will be held on February 1, 2010 at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, 1200 President Clinton Avenue, Little Rock, from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The purpose of the event is to raise public awareness of the project and invite citizen input. County residents are invited to meet the consultant team, to become informed about the process and about the issues that the plan will address, and to share opinions and concerns regarding the future use, development and protection of the Lake Maumelle Watershed.
