Tuesday To-Do: Claiborne Deming, Former CEO of Murphy Oil @ Clinton School

Claiborne Deming, former president and CEO of Murphy Oil Corp. in El Dorado, Ark., will give a Clinton School lecture about his views on the debate over climate change and the pending cap-and-trade legislation in the U.S. Congress. Deming led Murphy Oil from 1994 to 2008 and previously served as executive vice president and COO of the company.

Currently, Deming is a private investor and serves as a member of the board of directors of Murphy Oil and chairman of the executive committee. He is the past president of the 25 Year Club of the Oil and Gas Industry and currently serves as chairman of the National Petroleum Council.

WHEN: Monday, March 2 – 12-1 p.m.

  1. This guy is presumably on board with Murphy’s very active campaign to deny the reality of climate change?

    There’s no chance that the hopelessly compromised cap’n trade legislation now in Congress can do what’s necessary to reverse carbon emissions growth rate. It’s time for progressives to scrap the current bill and start over with a carbon tax campaign. It will be harder to pass but when it does it will at least work.
