The Cove is an Oscar-winning documentary about the annual dolphin slaughter in Taiji, Japan. It discusses, among other issues, the consequences of human consumption of the ocean and its resources, the effects of pollution on our ocean, and how that pollution harms us, manifesting as mercury poisoning in our seafood. All of these issues are intertwined with the film’s primary focus, the argument that dolphins ought not be slaughtered inhumanely or captured and forced to live out their lives in captivity.
