Arkansas’s waters will be highlighted at the Arkansas Watershed Advisory Group’s (AWAG) Watershed Conference on Thursday-Saturday, November 18-20 at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, Arkansas.
The conference speakers will include a variety of topics including river restoration projects, point and non-point sources of pollution, hydraulic fracing in the Fayetteville Shale, and how to protect our waterways for all of their designated uses including drinking water, fisheries, recreation, and others. In addition, a pre-conference environmental education workshop will be offered for formal and non-formal educators.
The key-note speaker will be Chad Pregracke, author of From the Bottom Up and organizer of the only “industrial strength” river clean-up organization and founder of Living Lands & Waters, an organization recently featured on the Discovery Channel. Mr. Pregracke will recount watershed stories and describe his journey along the Mississippi, North America’s largest river.
There are a limited number of scholarships available, so register early to see if you qualify.
GreenAR by the Day will be there, staffing a display table for her workplace. Come by and visit!
