Wednesday To-Do: Public Meeting on War Eagle Creek Mining

Residents and property owners near War Eagle Creek in Madison County are invited to attend a meeting to be held tonight in Huntsville. Federal and state agencies will be discussing the removal of stream gravel for commercial mining, bank stabilization, and flood control.

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will provide information about federal and state permitting requirements. Representatives from the agencies will also be answering any questions from those in attendance.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the meeting room of the Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation office located at 5056 Highway 412B in Huntsville.
