Sunday To-Do: 10/10/10 Event in Fort Smith


Grace Community Church in Fort Smith will dedicate a new 16.77 kW solar system on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at 4 p.m. Join Rev. Bill Leslie and others at 4001 Brooken Hill Drive in Fort Smith. The church is also in the process of converting 32 lighting fixtures from incandescent to LED lighting. Rev. Mike Morey, district superintendent, will join the congregation to celebrate.

Weekend To-Do: 10/10/10 Global Work Party in Little Rock


Arkansas Interfaith Power & Light, Sierra Club, and HEAL-AR will weatherize a Little Rock foster home as part of the 10/10/10 Global Work Party, tomorrow, Saturday, October 9 between 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

All are welcome to help with caulking, weatherstripping and adding insulation at the home for girls, age 16 and older, transitioning out of the foster care system.

Lunch, tools, and drinks will be provided! A barbecue celebration will be held on Sunday, October 10.

Wednesday To-Do: Founder of Restoring Eden @ Mount Sequoyah

Peter Illyn, founder and executive director of Restoring Eden, will speak tonight at 7 p.m. in the Bailey Center at Mount Sequoyah Conference & Retreat Center in Fayetteville. Illyn is traveling with Tweedy Malagian, a tribal Christian leader and environmentalists from Papua New Guinea.

This event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door to help defray expenses.
