Saturday To-Do: World Wide Knit in Public Day @ AR Studies Institute

Then, head to Arkansas Studies Institute in downtown Little Rock for the World Wide Knit in Public Day, Saturday, June 19 from 10 a.m. Started by Danielle Landes in 2005, the World Wide Knit in Public Day brings together knitters , crocheters, and spinners so that they can enjoy each other’s company. Beginners and experienced crafters alike are welcome to attend. Bring your yarn and needles (or other tools) and meet new people! Knitters may work on any project, but they are encouraged to contribute 7”x9” knitted squares to make an afghan to help a local charity.

Sit & Stitch meets every 3rd Wednesday, noon to 1 pm, in the East Room, for a social knitting (crochet, etc.) time to work on projects and meet new people. Come eat lunch as you start or continue your knitting, crochet, or other needlework projects. Beginners and experienced crafters alike are welcome to attend. Wanna Learn to Sew?

the root cafeAttend New Functions for Old Fibers workshop hosted by the ROOT Cafe! Corri Bristow and Dede Lowe will teach you simple, creative, and artistic ways to repurpose old garments as fun and functional household items. The three-part workshop will take place June 7, 14, and 21 (Sundays) from 3- 5 p.m. at the Station Grocery & Deli. The course fee is $50 and includes equipment, materials, use of space, and finished items to take home.  Sewing experience is helpful but not necessary.
