Thursday To-Do: U.S. Green Building Council Residential Green Discussion Group

Interested in building or renovating your home using green design and materials? Then, join this discussion group hosted by the U.S. Green Building Council – Arkansas Chapter, today between noon and 1 p.m. at the house of Jennifer Herron and Jeff Horton on 1219 S. Spring Street (corner of 13th and Spring streets) in downtown Little Rock.

Jennifer and Jeff will lead the tour through their architecture office/studio and residence situated on a 50′ x 140′ urban lot re-zoned for urban use. This project is a study in learning how to design for living/working environments, energy efficiency as well as teach their two young children about energy and water consumption, recycling, gardening and community.

They will discuss the various energy-efficient components from soy-based bean insulation to Energy Star rated appliances to geothermal heating and cooling.
